Coming Full Circle With LMCC

I will be joining the Library Marketing & Communications Conference (LMCC) board this summer, which feels like a full circle moment for me and Cordelia Anderson Consulting.

As many of you know, I started this consulting business in October of 2018, a month or so after saying goodbye to Charlotte Mecklenburg Library where I had worked on and off for 15 years. I was still trying to figure out what my business model would look like when I was invited by LMCC President Jennifer Burke to join her in delivering the keynote address for the 2018 conference in Saint Louis.

This was a real life-changer for me. Not only was it great timing, it also gave me an opportunity to share some ideas I’d been developing with a large audience of library marketers. Before that LMCC, I wasn’t sure if I could sustain a business focused primarily on the library industry. But after the feedback I got and the conversations I had at that conference, I started to think I could.

The 2018 LMCC also was the genesis of my book, Library Marketing and Communications: Strategies to Increase Relevance and Results. In my book bio, it says, “The inspiration for this book came from Cordelia’s keynote address at the 2018 Library Marketing and Communications Conference.”

That’s why I was so pleased and honored to be asked to join the LMCC board. This felt like a full circle moment for me. My term won’t officially start until July 1, but I am already gearing up for the 2023 conference. I hope to see many of you there and to meet even more great library professionals!
